By Sister Rebecca Tayag, SSND
Father John Cush celebrated SSND Foundation Day at Saint Saviour High School*, Brooklyn, NY, with a joyous Mass on Oct. 24.
The opening song, We’ve Come This Far By Faith, was sung by the gospel choir.
Each note shimmered with joy, spreading smiles among students, faculty and staff as the music went into a crescendo. Hands clapped and hearts opened with praise for Blessed Mother Theresa in a true testament to our Mother Theresa’s legacy of faith and devotion.
The joy on the girls' faces as they sang renewed my sense of faith and mission, especially at this time of the world we live in. We ended Mass with the song, Let there Be Peace.
The liturgy was a beautiful expression of our ‘SSND Spirit’ still alive at Saint Saviour since 1917.
I am grateful for the grace I received that day, especially interacting with the students after Mass at their lunchroom!
*Since 1917, Saint Saviour High School has lived out the vision of its founders, the School Sisters of Notre Dame: to foster academic excellence, leadership, and service within an inclusive, diverse community.
