On Sunday May 11, we hosted a special Mother's Day Tea at Waterdown. It included a May Crowning Sing Along, two special guests, and a time for sharing memories!
We started with tea and treats on pretty China table settings to set a celebratory tone. Our lounge was full of Sisters waiting to honour Mary in song.
We were very fortunate to have Sisters Mary Roy Weiss and Nancy Gilchriest with us!
Although they were here for a different purpose, Sister Mary Roy once again shared her musical talents with us, playing piano with the help of her assistant, Sister Nancy, who turned the pages and announced the next hymn.
Sisters Mary Roy and Nancy graciously led us in familiar Marian hymns that brought back memories of past May Crownings. The sound of the angelic voices in the room was beautiful!
When it came time to sing ‘Bring Flowers of the Rarest,’ Sister Rosemary Howarth invited us to think back to May Crownings that we attended and to share those memories.
Some memories included collecting real flowers from gardens to make the crowns, and attending large May Crownings at the local stadium. Some participants recalled creating a human Rosary.
It's always a special day when we gather as community and share stories. If there is entertainment, that's an added bonus. Thanks, Sisters Mary Roy and Nancy!
