Dr Shaneen Dee WilliamsDr. Shannen Dee Williams is an Assistant  Professor of History at Villanova University.  Her research and writing is in the area of the impact of racism in the life and mission of the Catholic Church. She has been a speaker at LCWR, and her book “Subversive Habits: Black Catholic Nuns in the Long African American Freedom Struggle,”will be published soon by Duke University Press.

Her webinar presentation, Why Black Catholic History Matters, explores these themes and raises questions about the specific ways religious congregations of men and women, the US Catholic priesthood and Catholic institutions have been impacted by racism.
