In Memoriam

Help us remember our Sisters.

In death, we say our ultimate human yes to God. Trusting in God’s power to bring us to the fullness of life, we conclude our earthly life with an act of worship: in the action of death we proclaim God as God, and ourselves as God’s creatures. We are called by God and sent by the community; we go in joy!

- You Are Sent, Constitution of the School Sisters of Notre Dame
Sister Helen Mary was a leader who encouraged and comforted Sisters. Of her leadership in community, she wrote "Working with the Sisters was a privilege. I found the experience of assisting the ill, the sick, and the infirm very rewarding, a  life-giving experience. I tried to find the little things a Sister enjoyed and would try to provide them for her. Sometimes the best gift I could provide was to be present." Her presence was a comfort to many.
Barbara enjoyed working with children and wanted to dedicate her entire life to their service. She credited the realization of her religious vocation to the prayers of the Sisters and the children. Drawn to the School Sisters of Notre Dame “by their sincerity and good example,” Barbara received the Postulant’s veil at St. Vincent’s Home, Tacony, Pa., on Sept. 7, 1965
Sister Vincenza Gagliostro

In her long career she published two books and worked with hundreds of people while presenting faculty retreat days for Catholic Schools, and setting up parish religious education, and youth ministry programs.
