In Memoriam

Help us remember our Sisters by sharing a story about a Sister who touched your life, or making a gift in their honor.

Sister Marie Angela was a woman with wonderful enthusiasm for life.  She cared for all who came her way as she shared her warm smile, great sense of humor, and generous nature, always reaching out to aid those in need. Marie Angela lived that special spark of life, continuing to care for others, even as she retired to prayer and presence at Villa Assumpta.
Sr Joan McGovern
Sister Joan celebrated her 90th birthday, the day before her passing, with her niece and MANY birthday wishes from those at Marian Village. Her niece festooned her room with balloons. At her funeral at the Marian Village chapel her prayer card included the quote from You Are Sent, the SSND constitution: “SENT TO PROCLAIM GOD’S LOVE THROUGH MY LIFE.” May she be experiencing eternal Joy!
Sister Mary Louise Brien
Sister Mary Lou served her God for many happy and fruitful years, teaching in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and in her hometown of Rochester, NY. She served with zeal and fervor as her greatest desire was to bring the “little ones to know and love Him more.”

In death, we say our ultimate human yes to God. Trusting in God’s power to bring us to the fullness of life, we conclude our earthly life with an act of worship: in the action of death we proclaim God as God, and ourselves as God’s creatures. We are called by God and sent by the community; we go in joy!
