The Transformative Power of Contemplation

As you think about how to enter into this year’s Lenten season, the OPDIC Committee invites you to consider the transforming power of contemplation. Contemplation can take many forms which enhance our ability to live in right relationship with ourselves, creation and our Creator.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Reflection

In Mexico in 1531, Spanish forces had violently taken over the land and oppressed the indigenous people there. It is in this context that the Blessed Mother appeared and chose a poor, indigenous man to bring her message of compassion and peace to his nation and all the world.

Lenten Invitation - A New Heart

On April 7th, 2022, the members of the AM OPDIC Committee (Ongoing Personal Development in Community) are offering Sisters, Associates and Colleagues the opportunity to gather for one hour of contemplative reflection, meditation, and conversation, A New Heart, via ZOOM.

The Universe Canticle - Kopanang Tapestries

Thank you to the IHM Sisters of Monroe Michigan (Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary,  Monroe, MI), for the use of their video of “The Universe Canticle - Kopanang Tapestries” (you can make video full size once open) which in textile art tell the story of creation and evolution inspired by the writings of Thomas Berry, Brian Swimme, South African folklore, and the Bible.

Stations of Creation

The contemplative approach to praying the Stations is rooted in Sacred Scripture, as you pray the Stations, you are called to embrace the wonder of creation and to reclaim the many ways that we humans do not live in a mutual life-giving relationship with all of creation.
