Here at Waterdown, our Sisters have been graced with that ‘back to school’ feeling. In fact, we all have. We all feel like restocking materials, prepping lessons and decorating rooms!
This reminiscence is one of several to be shared over the coming weeks. This week we sit down with Sister Carla Marie McCarville to capture a few thoughts on this season of potential!
Sister Carla Marie McCarville, SSND
Sister Carla served both as teacher and principal for many years, having leadership and compassion skills to carry her career. Before the year started, she would always meet with her teachers one at a time, to listen to their concerns.
“I would ask, ‘What are you going to do about this?’ I would encourage their response by saying, 'That’s a good idea!' But I would also tell them to “keep after it, not real hard'".
Sister Carla's favourite thing about teaching and managing teachers was to help everyone reach their full potential. She encouraged independence and inclusivity.
Today, Sister Carla continues to teach those around her and nurtures the best in us all!
