By Sister Carolyn Jost, SSND
On a beautiful Saturday in June, Sisters. Associates, families, and friends gathered at Marian Village to celebrate the Jubilees of Emily Wollschlager (60 years) and Jean Phelan (75 years). It was June 15, 2024.
Our day began with an inspiring liturgy celebrated by Father Martin Hebda. He reminded us that "good is enough." Though Jean might not see the seeds she planted grow and Emily might not see the the results of the lives she shaped, the good they did is enough. Many of us appreciated Father Hebda asking Sister Rose Cecile Espinos to serve as deacon for the liturgy.
Sisters Carol Brunner, Carol Dwyer, Arlene Gibson, Shirley Stockus, Joe Vander Bosch and Annabelle on the flute led us in spirited songs and heartfelt music. All of us were inspired.
The celebration continued with a festive meal in the hall which was beautifully decorated thanks to Sister Marcianne Bzdon. Sisters Barb Bowers and Marlene Panko also helped coordinate things with the food service. Associate Karen Didier led the meal prayer. The toast was given by Associate Pat Stibitch. We are grateful for another well-coordinated Jubilee by Sister Carolyn Jost.
We all felt "How good it is to be together as an SSND community united in love and friendship."
Congratulations, Jean and Emily!
