By Sister Theresa Lamy, SSND
On Sunday, September 15th, family, friends, former students, and colleagues from around the country gathered with the SSNDs at The Watermark to celebrate Sister Clare Fitzgerald’s 100th birthday.
Laughter, hugs, songs, stories, and animated conversation filled the auditorium.
One of the graduates of the Catholic Leadership Program at Boston College, of which Sister Clare was the founding director, presented a video tribute from dozens of former students and colleagues. Several times we heard them say, “You Sisters really know how to throw a party!”
The most touching part of the entire afternoon was Sister Clare’s expression of joy and gratitude not only for the day, but for all that has been done for Catholic education by everyone present.
