Canadian Thanksgiving is observed on the second Monday in October (this year, Oct. 14). We here at SSND Waterdown had a wonderful celebration.
The season of colours plays such an important part in our Canadian Culture here in Ontario, as we are blessed to be surrounded by beautiful maple trees, pumpkin farms, chrysanthemum farms and so much more.
We decorated our 3rd floor lounge to reflect the beauty of our fall season and Thanksgiving. Sister Betty Lackenbauer was a terrific cheerleader!
Our Sisters shared their gratitude to God for "our blessings and the support of Leadership”, for "all the beauty at this time of year”, for "an open heart!”, for “my memories”. The wreath shown here includes many other expressions of our gratitude!
We began our day with the tradition of celebrating a special Thanksgiving Mass with song and prayers of Thanksgiving. Our Sacristans had done an amazing job of decorating the Altar!
Then we moved on to our bountiful Thanksgiving dinner, including turkey with all the fixings, and pumpkin pie for any who had room!
We finished our day together as community praying Vespers.
We wish all our SSND family Happy Thanksgiving and hope yours was - and is - full of good food, good health, gratitude and great joy!
