By LEAD Co-Coordinator Anne MacNeil
While many celebrate Valentine's Day with roses and chocolates, the community at SSND-Waterdown honoured a remarkable milestone: 99 years since the founding of the original Canadian Province and the opening of the motherhouse at 1921 Snake Road.
This historic site has been a cornerstone for the School Sisters of Notre Dame and alumnae of Notre Dame Academy, nurturing generations with its traditions and values.
To mark this special occasion, Sisters and Associates gathered for a heartfelt Prayer and Tea.
Our Community Care Team members, Jenna Buist and Marci Shea-Perry, guided a Prayer of Gratitude, followed by a presentation filled with cherished memories.
Sister Joan Helm and others enriched the afternoon by sharing stories that bridged past and present. (Read Sister Joan's account of the Alumnae Reunion in 2018!)
The LEAD team served tea, cake, and homemade Valentine cookies baked by Jenna.
The event was filled with laughter, stories, and a deep sense of appreciation for the original Canadian Province and its enduring impact on the SSND Waterdown community.
As we approach a century of history, we celebrate not only the milestones, but the spirit and dedication that continue to shape our community.
