Pray With Us

Take time during this month to be aware of the sights and sounds and smells and tastes of this splendid universal communion. Ecological conversion begins with such awareness, and ongoing awareness takes us deeper into the mystery of the Incarnation. Emmanuel, God with us.
How can we confess our sins towards black immigrants in this season, ask God to re-shape our commitments to grow anti-racism and justice for Black immigrants, and seek their freedom from detention now?
A Prayer for Migrant Children (adapted from LIRS) God of all goodness, Tenderly bless all vulnerable children who are journeying alone in this world. Comfort orphaned children whose parents have been taken from them by violence. Provide for refugee children who are far from home and don’t know...

In Memoriam

Sister Eleanor was noted for her caring, compassion, and supportive attention to individuals and families. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. In her autobiography Sister Eleanor wrote that she was honoured to have been born in May, the month dedicated to Mary.
One day a friend said, “I’m good at recognizing future nuns and I think you are one.” Pat gasped and said that it was true. Pat entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame on Sept. 7, 1957, receiving the candidate’s veil in the chapel of Notre Dame College.
Sister Patricia, known then as Sister Mary Benedict, continued her education over the years, and received a B.A. in Sociology at Mt. Mary College in Milwaukee in 1967, and a Master of Pastoral Studies in Communication Arts from Loyola University in Chicago, in 1980.

"Prayer is true heavenly food and nourishment for the soul, which will starve without it. It is a remedy for the sick who desire to recover again, joy for the afflicted, strength for the weak, medicine for sinners, delight for the just, mutual support for the entire church.”
