Help us remember our Sisters by sharing a story about a Sister who touched your life, or making a gift in their honor.
Sister Raymunda was an excellent teacher, her dramatic way of teaching had students jumping out of their seats to answer her questions. She was successful with kids of all abilities, loved and enjoyed by them. Let us imagine her passionate entry into Heaven and ask her to give us a share of her energetic charisma.
Sister Helen Mary was a leader who encouraged and comforted Sisters. Of her leadership in community, she wrote "Working with the Sisters was a privilege. I found the experience of assisting the ill, the sick, and the infirm very rewarding, a life-giving experience. I tried to find the little things a Sister enjoyed and would try to provide them for her. Sometimes the best gift I could provide was to be present." Her presence was a comfort to many.
Barbara enjoyed working with children and wanted to dedicate her entire life to their service. She credited the realization of her religious vocation to the prayers of the Sisters and the children. Drawn to the School Sisters of Notre Dame “by their sincerity and good example,” Barbara received the Postulant’s veil at St. Vincent’s Home, Tacony, Pa., on Sept. 7, 1965
In death, we say our ultimate human yes to God. Trusting in God’s power to bring us to the fullness of life, we conclude our earthly life with an act of worship: in the action of death we proclaim God as God, and ourselves as God’s creatures. We are called by God and sent by the community; we go in joy!
