NDP is now seeking its next Head of School. In partnership with a dedicated leadership team, the next Head of School will lead one of the nation's most treasured Catholic girls' schools. With an exceptional faculty and staff deeply committed to the mission of NDP, a proud and joyful student body, outstanding facilities, loyal alumnae, and a reputation for academic excellence and service, NDP offers an extraordinary career opportunity for an accomplished, mission-aligned, Catholic school leader.
The Institute of Notre Dame, fondly known as “IND” was founded in 1847 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, an international congregation. The oldest all-girls Catholic high school, located in the heart of Baltimore City, closed its doors after 173 years on June 30, 2020, due to COVID-19, declining enrollment, the economy and an aging school building in need of much renovation and repair.

Sister Ellen spent 29 years as a teacher, and then moved into healthcare. She became a Home Health Aide and then a Licensed Practical Nurse. She especially loved providing home care, geriatrics, and therapeutic recreation. Sister Peg Regan said at her Wake, “She went beyond what was required and helped heal spirits as well as bodies. Ellen treated everyone with kindness and a listening ear and would bring meals to needy patients.” May Sister Ellen rest in peace.
Several SSNDs will share reflections here throughout this Advent season. New reflections will be added each week. Enjoy!

I can’t grieve for Russia’s attack on Ukraine, I can’t be horrified by the Nazi Holocaust and not acknowledge that this country I call “mine” is built on, exists because of, actions every bit as repellant.
VA community leader Sister Marianne Roderick drove the VA bus to her brother David’s home in Walkersville, MD on Saturday, October 19, 2024.  It was a warm blue-sky day where we were able to sit outside all day.

With all of the injustice and fear in our world today,
we ask you to inspire us and guide us as we participate in the upcoming presidential elections.

As we celebrate the 191st anniversary of the founding of our congregation in Germany, let us give thanks for a history marked by the fruitfulness of our love for each other and the transformation of the world through our ministry.
Our Sisters shared their gratitude to God for "our blessings and the support of Leadership”, for "all the beauty at this time of year”, for "an open heart!”, for “my memories”. The wreath shown here includes many other expressions of our gratitude!
"White's chapter on love of enemies, Affection for Monsters, promotes the notion that Jesus asks us to move with affection toward those we abhor, rather than the standard response of either avoidance or attack, even verbally". ~ Deborah M. Cerullo SSND
The SSND Charlesgate Community in Towson, MD, where 19 of us form a community, celebrated Hispanic Heritage Evening, linking it with the call to universal communion and interculturality from our General Chapter Call.
