As advocates for peace and education, we the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSNDs) remember and grieve with the community of Parkland, Florida, and all who have been impacted by the recent act of gun violence at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
In 2015, Pope Francis officially declared September 1 as World Day of Prayer for Creation. In addition, September 1st through Oct. 4th is the "Season of Creation"
In Memoriam
On July 16, 1947, Mary Ann became Sister Mary Prudentius, a name she had requested in honor of her beloved grandmother. She was professed on August 3, 1948, and missioned to St. Rita School in Brooklyn.
Sister Julita taught first-grade students for thirty-one years! Always very devoted to small children, Julita authored two publications for them, "The Poor Little Rich Man" and "The Little Flower of Jesus."
Having been taught a great devotion to the Blessed Mother, I made a promise to Our Lady that I would give my life to God if she would bring my brothers home safely from the war.
