Notre Dame Preparatory School

The Class of 2024 joins a 150-year legacy of alumnae who have taken part in this special day. White gowns have been part of NDP’s commencement since the school’s opening when the 1877 student handbook directed students to have “a white muslin dress, white sash and gloves for commencement…”
The NDP community joined together in celebration at the End of the Year Liturgy, where we officially closed out our 150th Anniversary Year. Gratitude, faith, and community were the focus of this spiritual gathering.
“For 150 years, people have been the heart of NDP, which has allowed us to put our students at the center of our world. Our mission is to educate women to help transform the world,” Sister Patricia McCarron. Read about the NDP 150th Anniversary in the Catholic Reporter!

The SSND corporate members support the decision from NDMU to become fully co-educational. By expanding its mission, the University is creating new opportunities to educate women and men together to bring their gifts to a world in need.
Our sponsored ministry Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) is taking bold action on sustainability and social justice in becoming a Laudato Si’ University, joining the first cohort of about 100 Catholic colleges and universities around the world.

Institute of Notre Dame Alumnae News

I attended the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore, Maryland when Sister Hildie Sutherland was still living there. Every morning she would be out front or in the store welcoming girls with a friendly smile and a “How you doin’ hon?”
It is not to the Fire Department nor to the Rescue Squad that people turn to when calamity strikes at IND. Whether it is a mop or a shovel, or the elevator key that is needed, students and teachers alike go to Sister M. Notburga.
"I am forever grateful for my IND education." - Ellen Norton Cullen

Founded in 1833 with the belief that education of girls is the foundation for a healthy society, the School Sisters of Notre Dame in the Atlantic Midwest Province continues
to sponsor young people's education.
