On Sunday, January 5, three Sisters from Villa Notre Dame in Wilton - Ilona Mensik, Marie Denise Murphy and Miriam McGuire - were blessed by the VND community as they prepared to leave and join the SSND community at Ozanam Hall in Bayside, NY.

Sister Mary Elizabeth knew from a very early age that she wanted to devote her life to God. Her last mission as a SSND was at Ozanam Hall, where Sisters from our province created a new community last September.

On October 11-12, Ministry Services facilitated Session Three of the Ministry Formation Process, focusing on Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation (JPIC) and how SSND implements and advances the JPIC agenda. Also discussed was Catholic tradition, identity and Catholic social teaching.

For thirty years (1966-1996) she was a teacher at St. Alphonsus Grammar School on the north side of Chicago, teaching third and fourth graders alongside the School Sisters of Notre Dame. After retiring from teaching, she volunteered as a tutor and then helped with secretarial tasks in the parish office at St. Alphonsus Church.
On September 21, Associates from Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut renewed their covenants during a ceremony in the chapel at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton.
